You spend your days regulating someone else's nervous system. This is 75 minutes a week that belongs entirely to yours.
It's about building a regulated nervous system — because connection, resilience, and confident parenting grow out of that, not the other way around.
This series was designed specifically for mothers in the foster care system: foster, adoptive, kinship, and reunifying moms. If you've noticed that parenting through trauma has changed something in your own body — the tension you carry, how fast you go from calm to overwhelmed, how rarely you notice your own hunger or exhaustion — you're exactly who this is for.
There is no fixing here, and no performing. You will not be asked to share more than you want to, hold a pose you don't want to hold, or be touched. The emphasis is on noticing, not changing.
This is not a drop-in yoga class. Every session is designed by an occupational therapist and certified yoga teacher, and grounded in the same science we use with the children in our clinic.
Every practice connects back to real caregiving occupations — morning routines, meal prep, school transitions, visits, bedtime — not just to the mat.
The sense that tells you what's happening inside your own body. Most caregivers have learned to override it. We rebuild it, slowly.
A plain-language understanding of survival states, the window of tolerance, and why your body reacts before your mind has a chance to explain.
Attachment, Regulation, and Competency — the trauma framework that shapes each week's theme and gives the six weeks their arc.
Each week has a theme, a piece of education, a yoga practice, a guided interoception exercise, and space to write. Come to all six if you can — they build.
“My body can become a safe place to come home to.” What trauma does to a caregiver's nervous system, survival states, and why your own regulation deserves support first.
“My body whispers before it shouts.” Hunger, fatigue, anxiety, stress signals — and the honest truth that most caregivers notice everyone else's needs before their own.
“I can notice without needing to change.” The window of tolerance, the early cues of fight, flight, freeze, and fawn, and what helps you move back toward balance.
“Connection grows from regulated presence.” Co-regulation, mirror neurons, and why children borrow our nervous systems before they can build their own.
“My body holds wisdom.” Self-efficacy, occupational balance, resilience — and learning the difference between strength and tension, effort and overwhelm.
“What do I want to remember?” Building your own regulation toolbox, realistic routines, planning for setbacks, and a long restorative practice to close the series.
Predictability is not a scheduling convenience — it's what makes a nervous system feel safe enough to soften. Every one of the six sessions runs 75 minutes and follows the same five parts, in the same order.
No yoga experience is needed, and no particular kind of body is expected. Bring what you have — we can help with the rest.
Every participant receives a full set of take-home materials, plus a practice that keeps working after the series ends.
One hand on the heart, one on the belly. The same words, every week, until they start to feel true.
Today I practiced listening instead of judging.
My body is worthy of kindness.
Regulation is a practice, not perfection.
Connection begins with me.
I have everything I need to take the next small step.
